Become a volunteer:
We’re a friendly bunch who support each other as much as we support the women and children staying in the refuge.
Do you have a good sense of humour and bags of common sense? Thats all you need because we offer training, advice and support.
Everything we discuss is totally confidential and must never leave the refuge.
We meet every Tuesday evening between 8pm and 9.30pm and all volunteers are expected to attend to get to know the staff and committee and vice versa.
Also we are always looking for daytime volunteers who can provide activities, skills or help for our residents. for example: yoga, cookery, etc.
If you would like to become a volunteer or would just like more information,
please phone the volunteer bureau on 01442 247209.
The helpline:
Interested in helping without leaving your armchair? Then our Helpline is for you. A call divert system means you are on call in your own home (but your number is never given out).
The Helpline is not an emergency service and offers help, advice or just a listening ear. Full training is given and
volunteers are given a reference book relating to each area of the county-wide line which is updated regularly. The line is open from 10 am to 8 pm. Volunteers are on duty for two or three hours at a time and we are looking for daytime volunteers especially, but evening ones as well. Phone 08088 088 088 and give your name and phone number and someone will call you back.
